My Thoughts on JAPHY Kibble: I Tried It with My Pets!

More than just pets, we often see our animals as part of the family. Caring for them is essential to keep them healthy and to share wonderful moments together.

In light of the less than stellar reputation of commercial pet foods, Japhy offers you an alternative: custom-made meals prepared for your dog or cat, tailored to their lifestyle, age, and various other characteristics to provide exactly what they need.

Having a cat and a dog at home, I tried Japhy, initially for my difficult dog, then for my cat. Here’s my verdict!

How Does Japhy Work?

Japhy offers you a subscription that allows you to receive tailored food (kibble and pâté) for your pet, either at home or at a collection point, whether for your dog or cat.

What criteria are taken into account?

The initial questionnaire helps to better understand your pet's profile, allowing you to provide a diet perfectly suited to their needs.

You will therefore be asked:

• Its species: dog or cat,
• Its name (to personalise the packaging and make the experience enjoyable),
• Its sex,
• Whether it is neutered,
• What breed it is (you can include two),
• Its age,
• Its activity level (low, medium, or very active),
• Its body condition (underweight, balanced, or slightly overweight),
• Its weight,
• Its food preferences:
• Kibble only or Kibble and Pâté,

How does the Japhy subscription work?

After your initial 15-day trial, Japhy will invite you to set up your subscription. If you wish to cancel at this point, that's perfectly fine as Japhy operates on a no-commitment basis.

🐶 Your pet is receiving kibbles that are truly suited to their lifestyle, characteristics, and preferences, ensuring they remain happy and healthy.

👉 It is also possible to choose terrines, which is what I did for my cat Orion, who enjoys having them from time to time.

📦 Delivery can take place at home or at a collection point. You can select a standard frequency:

• Every month,
• Every two months,
• Every three months.

However, if you ever need to bring forward or postpone the date of your next delivery, it's not an issue; just let us know in your account area.

👉 As for me, I had to bring the date forward once because I had taken in another dog at home, and I fed it my dog Nomad's kibble for a few days. It all went smoothly!

🎉 Each package contains a little gift for your pet. This could be a toy, some treats, or even a pâté...

👉 The toys sent are of excellent quality and the treats are really handy for practising positive training with my dog!

🍬 As a subscriber, we have the option to add a few products before confirming each order. These might include, for example:

👉 I sometimes find myself tempted to order some chew sticks for my dog before placing an order. Unlike those available in shops, which are made from materials that are very harmful to health (ash, glue), these contain rice, oats, vegetables, and herbs. What I appreciated about Japhy is the transparency of the brand regarding the ingredients in their recipes. You have the opportunity at any time to know the exact composition of your pet’s kibble.

In Japhy's recipes, you won't find:

• colouring agents,
• emulsifiers,
• dibasic calcium phosphate,
• indigestible proteins.

Japhy produces its food exclusively in France. To my knowledge, it is the only online service for custom dog food that does this, as its main competitor, Hector Kitchen, is based in Germany.

👉 For my 10-kilogram dog and my 5-kilogram cat, I pay around £40 and £30 per month, respectively.

• £3.95 for delivery to a collection point.

🌎 Japhy delivers to Mainland France, Corsica, and Monaco. For other destinations, shipping costs vary and will be specified at the final stage of your order.

My verdict on Japhy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Once I decided to have pets at home, it was important for me to take good care of them. I then bought dry food from the vet or a specialised shop for them.

However, I was never truly satisfied with these kibbles, which, despite their price, contained numerous additives and remained very greasy. So, I looked for an alternative, particularly for my dog, Nomad, a 5-year-old Shetland Sheepdog, who often has digestive issues.

When I decided to try Japhy, I was first pleasantly surprised by the ease of ordering, which is done through a questionnaire. The offer of 15 days at half price really allows you to test the kibble and see if it suits your pet.

My dog absolutely loved the Japhy kibble. I transitioned him from his previous food as directed by the brand, and everything went really well. It's now been 4 months since he has been fed solely Japhy kibble, and he is falling ill much less often. He hasn't gained any weight, so it seems to be balanced. Moreover, since he is a long-haired breed, I've quickly noticed that his coat has become much silkier, which is a sign of a healthy pet! This is truly reassuring! 😉

About a month ago, I started ordering from Japhy for Orion, my 4-year-old European cat whom we rescued as a small kitten after he had been abandoned. He's a fussy cat, as he had to hunt for food when he was a kitten and generally isn't very keen on dry food.

I also ordered some salmon oil to drizzle over his kibble, and it worked perfectly! There’s none left at the bottom of the bowl, and he really seems to enjoy Japhy’s products.
