My Thoughts on JAPHY Kibble: I Tried It with My Pets!

More than just pets, we often see our animals as part of the family. Caring for them is essential to keep them healthy and enjoy great moments together.

With the less than stellar reputation of off-the-shelf pet foods, Japhy offers you an alternative: custom meals prepared for your dog or cat, tailored to their lifestyle, age, and various other characteristics to ensure they get exactly what they need.

Having a cat and a dog at home, I decided to try out Japhy, initially for my fussy dog and then for my cat. Here's my verdict!

What is Japhy?

How does Japhy work?

Japhy offers you a subscription that allows you to receive food (kibble and pâtés) tailored specifically for your pet, whether it's a dog or a cat, delivered to your home or to a collection point.

What criteria are considered?

The initial questionnaire helps to better understand your pet's profile, allowing you to provide them with a diet that perfectly meets their needs.

You will be asked:

• Type of pet: dog or cat,
• Its name (to personalise the packaging and make the experience fun),
• Its gender,
• If it is neutered/spayed,
• What breed it is (you can indicate two),
• Its age,
• Its activity level (low, moderate, or very active),
• Its body condition (thin, balanced, or a bit overweight),
• Its weight,
• Food preferences:
• Dry food only or dry food and pâté,

Can I register multiple pets on Japhy?

Absolutely, and it even entitles you to a discount:

How does the Japhy subscription work?

After your initial 15-day trial, Japhy will offer you the option to set up your subscription. If you wish to cancel at this point, that's entirely possible as Japhy has no long-term commitment.

🐶 Your pet is receiving kibble that is truly suited to their lifestyle, their characteristics, and their preferences, helping to keep them happy and healthy.

👉 It's also possible to choose pâtés, which is what I did for my cat Orion, as he enjoys having them every now and then.

📦 Delivery is available to your home or at a collection point. You can select a standard delivery frequency:

• Every month,
• Every two months,
• Every three months.

However, if you ever need to bring forward or push back the date of your next delivery, it’s no problem at all; just let us know in your customer account.

👉 As for me, I had to bring the date forward once because I had taken in another dog at home, and I fed him Nomad's kibble for a few days. It all went smoothly!

🎉 Each parcel includes a thoughtful gift for your pet. It might be a toy, some treats, or even a pâté...

👉 The toys sent are of great quality, and the treats are really handy for practising positive training with my dog!

🍬 As a subscriber, we have the option to add a few products before confirming each order. This could include, for example:

👉 Occasionally, I might be tempted to order some chew sticks for my dog before placing an order. Unlike the shop-bought ones that are made with harmful materials (ash, glue), these contain rice, oats, vegetables, and herbs. I give them to my dog with complete confidence!

What Makes Japhy Kibble Better?

What sets Japhy apart from the pet food you can buy in supermarkets is the emphasis on product quality.

What I really liked about Japhy is the transparency of the brand when it comes to the ingredients in their recipes. You can always find out the exact composition of your kibble.

In Japhy's recipes, you won't find:

• emulsifiers,
• calcium phosphate,

Japhy produces its food exclusively in France. To my knowledge, it is the only online custom kibble service doing so, as its main competitor, Hector Kitchen, is based in Germany.

What is the price of Japhy dog food?

As the price of kibble is determined by various factors, I can't give you the exact price you'll pay, but I can provide you with a reference range.

👉 For my 10-kilo dog and my 5-kilo cat, I pay around €40 and €30 per month, respectively.

At Japhy, delivery on all subscriptions is free, regardless of the price.

If you choose a simple order from the e-shop, delivery is free for orders over €30 each month and is delivered within 72 hours.

• €4.95 for home delivery with Colissimo or DPD,
• €3.95 for delivery to a collection point.

🌎 Japhy delivers in mainland France, Corsica, and Monaco. For other destinations, charges may vary and will be specified at the final step of the order process.

Japhy accepts credit cards, including Visa or Mastercard, as well as Blue Card and PayPal.

My verdict on Japhy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Once I decided to have pets at home, it was essential for me to take proper care of them. So, I bought kibble for them from the vet or a specialised pet shop.

However, I was never really happy with those kibble options which, despite their cost, contained numerous additives and were quite greasy. So, I started looking for an alternative, especially for my dog, Nomad, a 5-year-old Shetland Sheepdog, who often has digestive issues.

When I decided to give Japhy a try, I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of ordering, which is done through a questionnaire. The 15-day half-price offer really allows you to test the kibble and see if it suits your pet.

My dog has absolutely loved the Japhy kibble. I made the transition from the old kibble as recommended by the brand, and it all went very smoothly. It’s now been 4 months since he’s been on nothing but Japhy kibble, and he’s getting sick a lot less often. He hasn't gained any weight, so it seems quite balanced. Additionally, since he’s a long-haired breed, I quickly noticed that his coat has become much silkier, which is a sign of a healthy pet! That’s really reassuring! 😉

A month ago, I started ordering from Japhy for Orion, my 4-year-old European cat whom we rescued as a kitten after he had been abandoned. He's a difficult cat, as he had to hunt for food when he was a kitten and generally doesn't like dry food much.

I also ordered some salmon oil to add to his kibble, and it worked a treat! There's none left at the bottom of the bowl, and he really seems to enjoy the Japhy products.
