My Thoughts on LOOKFANTASTIC, the Favourite Box for Beauty Lovers

When you love cosmetics like I do, trying out new products is truly a delightful experience. However, I've realised that it can really add up cost-wise! Initially, I subscribed to the Lookfantastic beauty box to save some money. I've been giving it a go over the past few months, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on it!

How does the Lookfantastic box work?

Lookfantastic offers a fairly classic beauty box: it is sent to you monthly, with a subscription of one, three, six months, or a year. The products come from well-known beauty brands, particularly popular in the UK, which is where the LookFantastic concept originated. Among these, you'll find some luxury brands, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Lacoste...

Each box contains 6 products and an explanatory magazine (in English!) that explains how to use them. These may include:

• Facial care: moisturiser, cleanser, serum, concealer...
• Body care: cream, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, perfume...
• Make-up: eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara...
• Accessories: brush, mirror, make-up remover sponge...

👉 The products can be miniature (slightly larger than samples) or in retail size. Their total value is at least $50 NZD, which means you can make some great savings!

The minimum monthly payment is NZD 15.50, including delivery: this is based on a 12-month commitment.

When does my Lookfantastic subscription end?

At the end of each commitment period, regardless of its duration (1, 3, 6 months or a year), Lookfantastic automatically renews the subscription. Therefore, I recommend that you untick the "Auto-Renewal" box in your account as soon as you subscribe, to keep control over it. If you're unsure how to do this, the brand also offers the option to contact them directly via message using this form.

✅ Lookfantastic offers attractive prices for the genuine value of the box. However, to start off, I recommend opting for a shorter subscription duration (one to three months) as there is a commitment involved. 😉

For this unboxing, I'm excited to share the June 2022 box, which was full of vibrant colours and turned out to be a fantastic surprise for me.

👉 In total, thanks to this box that I paid €17 for with my six-month subscription, I have saved nearly €45 and discovered some fantastic products!

Is there a Lookfantastic gift card? 🎁

Unfortunately, Lookfantastic doesn't offer this type of product yet. It's a real pity because a subscription to this box would make a wonderful surprise for your sister, friend, or beauty-loving mum.

However, since there is no customisation questionnaire, you can absolutely register someone of your choice by selecting the duration of their subscription, and by replacing your delivery address with theirs.

👉 In this context, the prepaid subscription is quite convenient, but I believe you should still deselect the automatic renewal option in your account to avoid it being renewed.

In 2021, the calendar cost NZ$95, which places it in the higher range of beauty calendars. However, this is justified by the format of the products: these are not samples but full-sized or travel-sized items. Inside, there was over NZ$470 worth of products!

My verdict on the Lookfantastic box

Before trying out the box, the brand Lookfantastic was somewhat unknown to me. When people mentioned beauty boxes, I would think of MyLittleBox, Blissim, or Glossybox... However, I was tempted to give this one a go because the prices of the products on the site were really appealing. Plus, there were items that I couldn't find anywhere else.

I subscribed for six months to give the box a go. The price is a little higher than other boxes, but I understood why when I received my parcels: each box contained at least one full-size product. Plus, while competitors offer boxes with 5 to 6 products, Lookfantastic guarantees 6. It's definitely more appealing!

Overall, I was happy with the products received: they are from well-known brands, including some that I use daily (Nuxe, Caudalie), and they are suitable for most skin and hair types, even the most sensitive. However, I did wish we could customise our profiles to receive make-up that matches our skin tone, for example.

I also appreciated the packaging of the boxes and the reliability of the shipping. I was a bit worried, as it was a company not based in New Zealand, but the products are very well packaged and they arrive quickly.
