My Take on LOOKFANTASTIC, the Favourite Box for Beauty Lovers

When you love cosmetics like I do, trying out new products is genuinely a delightful experience. However, I've realised it can cost quite a bit! Initially, I subscribed to the Lookfantastic beauty box to save some money. I've been testing it over the past few months and I'd like to share my thoughts on it!

How does the Lookfantastic box work?

Lookfantastic offers a fairly classic beauty box: it is delivered to your home every month, with a subscription of one, three, six months, or a year. The products come from well-known beauty brands, quite popular in the UK, where the LookFantastic concept originated. Among these, you will find some luxury brands, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Lacoste...

Every box contains 6 products and an explanatory magazine (in English!) that tells you how to use them. This may include:

• for facial care: moisturiser, makeup remover, serum, concealer...
• for body care: cream, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, perfume...
• for make-up: eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara...
• for accessories: brush, mirror, cleansing sponge,...

👉 The products can be miniature (slightly larger than samples) or in retail size. Their total value is at least €50, which allows you to save a nice amount!

When does my Lookfantastic subscription end?

At the end of each commitment period, regardless of its length (1, 3, 6 months, or a year), Lookfantastic automatically renews the subscription. I recommend that you uncheck the "Automatic Renewal" option in your account right after subscribing, so you can maintain control over it. If you're unsure how to do this, the brand also offers a direct way to contact them via message using this form.

✅ Lookfantastic offers attractive pricing for the actual value of the box. However, to start, I recommend opting for a short subscription duration (one to three months), as there is a commitment involved. 😉

For this unboxing, I'm excited to share the June 2022 box, which is vibrant and was a wonderful surprise for me.

In this lovely summer-coloured box, I got to discover:

🔸 A clear eyebrow gel from the brand Eyeko - Retail Size, usually priced at €11.45,

🔸 9 salicylic acid blemish patches from Disciple, available for €17.95.

🔸 A watermelon body scrub (which smelt absolutely lovely!) from the brand Bubble T, travel size, typically priced at €9.45,

🔸 A lovely Lottie London eyeshadow in the shade "Golden Hour", priced at €6.95,

🔸 Micellar water from Nuxe, with rose extract, in travel size, normally priced at around €7.

🔸 A facial exfoliating gel from Gatineau, normally priced at €9.45.

👉 Overall, thanks to this box that I paid €17 for with my six-month subscription, I’ve saved nearly €45 and discovered some fantastic products!

Is there a Lookfantastic gift card? 🎁

Unfortunately, Lookfantastic doesn't offer this type of product yet. It's a real shame because a subscription to this box would make a lovely surprise for your sister, friend, or beauty-loving mum.

However, since there isn't a personalisation questionnaire, you have the option to subscribe someone of your choice by selecting the duration of their subscription and changing the delivery address to theirs.

👉 In this context, the prepaid subscription is quite handy, but it seems to me that you still need to untick the automatic renewal option on your account to prevent it from being renewed.

In 2021, the calendar cost €95, which puts it in the higher price range for beauty calendars. However, this can be justified by the product formats: they aren't samples but travel sizes or full retail sizes. Inside, there was over €470 worth of products!

And since we don't change a successful recipe, the 2022 calendar is likely to be quite similar. The brand has been sticking to this well-loved classic for several years now.

My verdict on the Lookfantastic box

Before trying out the box, the brand Lookfantastic was a bit unknown to me. Indeed, when people spoke about beauty boxes, I thought of MyLittleBox, Blissim, or Glossybox... However, I was tempted to give this one a go because the prices of the products on the site were really appealing. Additionally, there were products that you couldn't find anywhere else.

I subscribed for six months to try out the box. The price is slightly higher than other boxes, but I understood why when I received my parcels: in each box, there was at least one full-sized product. Additionally, while competitors offer boxes with 5 to 6 products, Lookfantastic guarantees 6. It's definitely more appealing!

I was generally happy with the products received: they are from well-known brands, some of which I use daily (Nuxe, Caudalie) and suitable for most skin and hair types, even the most sensitive. However, I did miss the ability to personalise my profile to receive make-up that matches my skin tone, for example.

I also appreciated the packaging of the gift sets and the promptness of the delivery. I was a bit worried since it was from a company that isn’t based in Ireland, but the products are very well packaged and they arrive quickly.
