My Take on BLISSIM BOX: Read This Before Subscribing!

Among beauty boxes, Blissim is a true standout! Once known as Birchbox, this box has been around for over ten years and is considered a pioneer in the industry. It boasts hundreds of thousands of subscribers and is frequently cited as a prime example. But does this box really live up to its reputation?

As a cosmetics enthusiast, I've been subscribed to the Blissim box for the past three months and I'm here to share my thoughts on it, honestly!

How does the Blissim box work?

Blissim offers you the chance to receive a beauty box every month, either at a collection point or through your letterbox, featuring 5 to 6 mini products that may include:

• cosmetic products: day creams, moisturisers, serums,...
• make-up: eyeshadow, lipstick, kohl, eyeliner, highlighter...
• cleaning products: shampoo, shower gel, etc...

These products come from well-known brands such as Nuxe, MAC, Kielh's, Garancia, Huygens, Bioderma, Clinique, Kérastase...

After signing up for the offer, you'll have the chance to complete a questionnaire to create your beauty profile. Based on your responses, Blissim will select for you the most suitable products from a range of around fifteen options, which change each month.

You can opt for a no-commitment offer, which is more expensive, or an offer with a commitment, which usually comes with discounts and typically a welcome gift.

Every month, Blissim selects a different theme, which you can see beautifully displayed on the nice box that contains the products as well as in the magazine that comes with it.

The prices for Blissim depend on the delivery method selected and the destination country:

The minimum price for the box is €14.90. This covers a box sent to a residential address in mainland France, without tracking or to a collection point. If you would like tracking, you will need to pay €16.80 per month.

Currently on the Blissim website, you have several options available to you:

• commit to 12 months and enjoy the summer double box at the special price of €14.90 instead of €29.80, followed by subsequent boxes at €14.90 per month,
• sign up for a no-commitment offer and pay €29.80 for the first box, followed by €14.90 for the rest.

If you opt for the no-commitment plan, your subscription will be automatically renewed each month. However, you'll have the option to cancel without any fees directly from your account, or you can pause it instead.

When is the Blissim calendar being released?

In 2021, the advent calendar was available on the Blissim website from 1st October. It should be similar for 2022.

What is the price of the Blissim calendar?

In 2021, it was sold for a retail price of €59, with a special rate for subscribers to the box at €49. It's a great deal to treat yourself before Christmas, as this calendar included over €210 worth of products!

In 2022, unless stated otherwise by the brand, it should remain around the same price range.

Right from the homepage of the site, Blissim positions itself as the number one beauty box in France, which naturally creates high expectations!

But the brand isn't new on the scene... It was established in 2011 under the name Joliebox, later transformed into BirchBox, and in 2020, it was rebranded as Blissim to give it a more international flair. It belongs to a Franco-American company called Beautycom, which is based in Paris, specifically in the Montmartre area. The CEO is Quentin Reygrobellet, and it's listed on the website société.com:

Additionally, the brand has a phone customer service and takes the time to personally respond to customer reviews left on Trustpilot, always offering a solution.

In a unique move within the beauty sector, the help section of the Blissim website even allows you to contact a pharmacist directly via message to ask medical questions. This is incredibly handy if you're unsure about purchasing a product, especially if you have allergies or skin concerns.

Finally, the brand is aware of its rights and responsibilities and reminds customers on the homepage of the option to return items and receive a full refund up to 14 days after receipt by contacting customer service. This is in compliance with Article L121-20-12 of the Consumer Code, and it's reassuring to see that Blissim takes this very seriously.

My Verdict on Blissim

Before trying out the Blissim box for real, I had heard about it for several years. I have also been subscribed to other beauty boxes, so I had certain expectations for this renowned box, which is number one in France!

🧡 I signed up with no commitment through the website. I was a bit worried that the delivery wouldn't be tracked, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive my box very quickly afterwards, in just a few days. It was a collaboration with the brand Caudalie, whose products I really enjoy. I absolutely loved the design of the box, which was in a lovely liberty print, as well as the products included.

💛 Every month, Blissim offers products from top brands that I enjoy trying out and even sharing with friends. I filled out my beauty questionnaire to provide Blissim with information about my profile. I have a sensitive skin type, which tends to get red, so certain products aren’t suitable for me. Since then, Blissim has taken this into account and I haven’t received any products that irritate my skin so far. If that were to happen, I learned from reading other customer reviews that I could contact customer service to exchange the product by explaining the situation, which puts my mind at ease!

💙 Sometimes, I do wish that they were full-size products: they’re not quite samples either, but some boxes, like the Biotyfull box, offer full-size options and that’s quite lovely! However, Blissim’s prices remain very appealing.

How to cancel your Blissim subscription?

Two situations are possible:

🔸 You have taken out a subscription with a commitment

In this case, you need to wait until the end of your commitment period (usually 12 months) to cancel it.

🔸 You have subscribed to Blissim with a no-commitment offer, or your commitment period has ended

You can easily unsubscribe at any time. Just go to your "my account" section on the Blissim.fr website, then head to the "subscription management" section in the menu and select the option to "suspend my subscription".

You can suspend it indefinitely or for a period of 1, 3, or 6 months, depending on your preferences. Suspending it for a month can be really handy if you're heading off on holiday abroad, for instance! 🌴
