My Thoughts on BLISSIM BOX: Read This Before You Subscribe!

Among beauty boxes, Blissim is a true benchmark! Previously known as Birchbox, this subscription has been around for more than ten years and is considered a pioneer in the industry. It has hundreds of thousands of subscribers and is often mentioned as a prime example. But does this box really live up to its reputation?

As a cosmetics enthusiast, I've personally been subscribed to the Blissim box for the past three months, and I'm sharing my thoughts on it, honestly!

How Does the Blissim Box Work?

Blissim offers you the opportunity to receive each month, either at a pickup location or in your mailbox, a beauty box containing 5 to 6 travel-sized products which may include:

• cosmetic products: day creams, moisturizers, serums,...
• make-up: eyeshadow, lipstick, kohl, eyeliner, highlighter...
• cleansing products: shampoo, shower gel, etc...

These products come from well-known brands, such as Nuxe, MAC, Kiehl's, Garancia, Huygens, Bioderma, Clinique, Kérastase...

Once you sign up for the offer, you have the option to complete a questionnaire to create your beauty profile. Based on your answers, Blissim will select for you the most suitable products from a selection of about fifteen items, which change each month.

You can choose a no-commitment plan, which is more expensive, or a plan with a commitment that offers discounts and usually a welcome gift.

Each month, Blissim selects a different theme, which you will find beautifully illustrated on the charming box that contains the products, as well as in the accompanying magazine.

What is the price of Blissim?

The rates for Blissim depend on the shipping method selected and the destination country:

The minimum price for the box is $14.90 CAD. This price applies to a package sent within mainland Canada, delivered to your home, without tracking or to a pickup point. If you prefer tracking, you will need to pay $16.80 CAD per month.

Currently on the Blissim website, you have several options available to you:

• commit to a 12-month plan and enjoy the summer double box at a special price of $14.90 instead of $29.80, followed by subsequent boxes at $14.90 per month,
• subscribe to a no-commitment offer and pay $29.80 for the first box, then $14.90 for each box after that.

If you choose the no-commitment plan, your subscription will automatically renew each month. However, you have the option to cancel at no cost directly from your account, or you can pause it as well.

✅ Unless you are absolutely certain that you want to subscribe for 12 months, I recommend opting for a no-commitment subscription. It doesn't currently cost much more, and you can cancel it easily at any time!

Right from the homepage of the site, Blissim positions itself as the number one beauty box in France, which naturally sets high expectations!

But the brand is not new to the scene... It was established in 2011 under the name Joliebox, then it became BirchBox, and finally in 2020 it was renamed Blissim to give it a more international appeal. It is owned by a Franco-American company called Beautycom, which is based in Paris, in the Montmartre district. Its CEO is Quentin Reygrobellet, and it is listed on the website société.com:

Additionally, the brand has a customer service hotline and takes the time to personally respond to customer reviews left on Trustpilot, always offering a solution.

In a unique move within the beauty industry, Blissim's help section even offers the option to directly message a pharmacist to ask medical questions. This is incredibly handy if you're uncertain about a product before purchasing it, especially in cases of allergies or skin issues.

Finally, the brand understands its rights and responsibilities and reminds customers on the homepage about the option to return items and receive a full refund within 14 days of receipt by contacting customer service. This is in accordance with Article L121-20-12 of the Consumer Code, and it's nice to see that Blissim takes this very seriously.

My Verdict on Blissim

Before trying out the Blissim box for real, I had heard about it for several years. I have also been subscribed to other beauty boxes, so I had high expectations for this famous box that is number one in France!

🧡 I subscribed without any commitment through the website. I was a bit worried that the delivery wouldn’t be tracked, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive my box very quickly, in just a few days. It was a collaboration with the brand Caudalie, whose products I really enjoy. I immediately loved the design of the box, in liberty fabric, as well as the products included.

💛 Every month, Blissim offers products from top brands that I enjoy testing and sharing with my friends. I filled out my beauty questionnaire to provide Blissim with information about my profile. I have sensitive skin that is prone to redness, so some products are not suitable for me. Since then, Blissim has taken this into account, and I have yet to receive any products that irritate my skin. If that were to happen, I learned from reading other customer reviews that I could contact customer service to exchange the product by explaining the situation, which reassures me!

💙 Sometimes, I find myself wishing that these were full-size products: they’re not exactly samples, but some boxes, like the Biotyfull Box, offer full-size formats, which is pretty great! However, the price of Blissim is still very appealing.

How to Cancel Your Blissim Subscription?

Two situations are possible:

🔸 You have signed up for a subscription with a commitment

In this case, you will need to wait until the end of your commitment period (usually 12 months) in order to cancel it.

🔸 You subscribed to Blissim with a no-commitment offer, or your commitment period has ended

You can easily unsubscribe if you wish. Just go to your "my account" area on the Blissim.ca website, then navigate to the "subscription management" section in the menu and select the option "suspend my subscription".

You can suspend it indefinitely or for a period of 1, 3, or 6 months, depending on your preferences. Suspending it for a month can be very convenient if you're going on vacation abroad, for example! 🌴

Why Birchbox Became Blissim?

You may have heard about Birchbox a few years ago. Just to let you know, it hasn't disappeared: in 2020, the brand changed its name after becoming independent following its split from the international Birchbox group. It is now known as ... Blissim!
