My Review of BLISSIM BOX: Read This Before Subscribing!

Among beauty boxes, Blissim is truly a standout! Previously known as Birchbox, this box has been around for over a decade and is considered a pioneer in the field. It has hundreds of thousands of subscribers and is often cited as a benchmark. But does this box really live up to its reputation?

As a cosmetics enthusiast, I have personally subscribed to Blissim box for the past three months and I’m excited to share my thoughts with you, honestly and openly!

How does the Blissim box work?

Blissim offers you the chance to receive a beauty box each month, either at a collection point or in your letterbox, containing 5 to 6 sample-sized products that may include:

• cosmetic products: moisturising creams, day creams, serums,...
• make-up: eyeshadow, lipstick, kohl, eyeliner, highlighter...
• cleansing products: shampoo, shower gel, etc...

These products come from well-known brands, such as Nuxe, MAC, Kiehl's, Garancia, Huygens, Bioderma, Clinique, and Kérastase...

After signing up for the offer, you have the option to complete a questionnaire to establish your beauty profile. Based on your answers, Blissim will select for you the most suitable products from a monthly changing selection of around fifteen options.

You can choose a no-obligation plan, which is pricier, or a contract plan that offers discounts and usually a welcome gift.

Each month, Blissim selects a different theme, which you can find beautifully illustrated on the lovely box that contains the products, as well as in the accompanying magazine.

What is the price of Blissim?

The prices at Blissim depend on the delivery method selected and the destination country:

The minimum price for the box is $14.90. This is for a box delivered in metropolitan France, to your home, without tracking or to a collection point. If you prefer tracking, you will need to pay $16.80 per month.

Currently on the Blissim website, you have several options available to you:

• commit for 12 months and enjoy the summer double box at a special price of $14.90 instead of $29.80, then subsequent boxes at $14.90 per month,
• subscribe to a no-commitment offer and pay $29.80 for the first box, then $14.90 for the following boxes.

If you choose the no-lock-in plan, your subscription will automatically renew each month, but you'll have the option to cancel at no cost directly from your account, or even pause it if you prefer.

In 2021, the advent calendar was available on the Blissim website from 1 October. It should be similar for 2022.

What is the price of the Blissim calendar?

In 2021, it was available at a retail price of $59, with a special rate for box subscribers at $49. This was a great offer to treat yourself before Christmas, as the calendar included over $210 worth of products!

In 2022, unless stated otherwise by the brand, this should remain at a similar price range.

Can we trust the Blissim brand, or is it a scam?

Right from the home page of the site, Blissim positions itself as the number one beauty box in Australia, which naturally creates high expectations!

But the brand is not new to the scene... It was established in 2011 under the name Joliebox, later becoming BirchBox, and finally rebranding in 2020 to Blissim to give it a more international appeal. It is owned by a Franco-American company called Beautycom, which is based in Paris, in the Montmartre district. Its CEO is Quentin Reygrobellet, and it is listed on the website société.com:

Additionally, the brand has a customer service phone line and takes the time to personally respond to customer reviews left on Trustpilot, always offering a solution.

A unique feature in the beauty sector, the help section on the Blissim website even offers the option to directly contact a pharmacist via message to ask a medical question. This is incredibly handy if you have any doubts before purchasing a product, especially in cases of allergies or skin issues.

Finally, the brand understands its rights and responsibilities and reminds customers on the homepage about the option to return items and receive a full refund up to 14 days after receiving them by contacting customer service. This is in line with Article L121-20-12 of the Consumer Code, and it’s great to see that Blissim takes this very seriously.

My verdict on Blissim

Before trying the Blissim box for real, I had already heard about it for several years. I have also subscribed to other beauty boxes, so I had certain expectations for this renowned box number 1 in France!

🧡 I signed up for a no-commitment subscription through the website. I was a bit worried that the delivery wouldn't be tracked, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive my box incredibly quickly, in just a few days. It was a collaboration with the brand Caudalie, whose products I really love. I immediately adored the box's design, featuring a lovely floral print, as well as the products included.

💛 Each month, Blissim offers products from top brands that I enjoy testing and sharing with my friends. I filled out my beauty questionnaire, providing Blissim with information about my profile. I have sensitive skin that is prone to redness, so some products are not suitable for me. Since then, Blissim has taken this into account, and I haven't received any products that have irritated my skin so far. If that were to happen, I found out from reading other customer reviews that I could contact customer service to exchange the product by explaining the situation, which reassures me!

💙 Sometimes, I do wish that they were full-size products: they're not quite samples, but some boxes like the Biotyfull box offer full-size options, and that's rather nice! However, the price of Blissim is still quite appealing.

How to Cancel Your Blissim Subscription?

Two situations are possible:

🔸 You have signed up for a subscription with a commitment

In this case, you need to wait until your commitment period ends (usually 12 months) before you can cancel it.

🔸 You have subscribed to Blissim with a no-commitment offer or your commitment period has ended

You can easily unsubscribe at any time. Just head over to your "my account" section on the Blissim.fr website, then go to the "subscription management" section in the menu and select the "suspend my subscription" option.

You can suspend it indefinitely or for a period of 1, 3, or 6 months, depending on your preferences. Suspending it for a month can be quite handy if you're going on a holiday overseas, for instance! 🌴
