When you love cosmetics like I do, trying out new products is truly a delightful experience. However, I realised it can be quite a costly affair! Initially, I subscribed to the Lookfantastic beauty box to save some money. I've been testing it out for the past few months, and I’d like to share my thoughts on it!

How Does the Lookfantastic Box Work?

Lookfantastic offers a fairly traditional beauty box: it is delivered to your home monthly, with a subscription for one, three, six months, or a year. The products come from well-known beauty brands, primarily popular in the UK, which is where the LookFantastic concept originates. Among these, you'll find some luxury brands, like Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Lacoste...

Each box contains 6 products and an explanatory magazine (in English!) that guides you on how to use them. These may include:

• for facial care: moisturiser, makeup remover, serum, concealer...,
• for body care: cream, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, perfume...
• for makeup: eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara...
• for accessories: brush, mirror, makeup sponge, ...

👉 The products can be mini-sized (slightly larger than samples) or in retail format. Their total value is at least SGD 80, allowing you to save quite a bit!

The Lookfantastic box is on par with other beauty subscriptions, with pricing similar to what you’d find with the Blissim box (but this time, there’s a chance to receive full-size products in the boxes).

The minimum monthly fee is S$15.50, including delivery: this comes with a 12-month commitment.

When does my Lookfantastic subscription end?

At the end of each commitment period, no matter the length (1, 3, 6 months, or a year), Lookfantastic automatically renews the subscription. Therefore, I recommend that you uncheck the "Automatic Renewal" box in your account as soon as you subscribe, so that you can maintain control over it. If you're unsure how to do this, the brand also offers the option to contact them directly via a message, using this form.

✅ Lookfantastic offers attractive prices for the actual value of the box. However, if you're testing it out, I recommend starting with a short subscription (one to three months) as there is a commitment involved. 😉

For this unboxing, I’m excited to share the June 2022 box, which is vibrant and was a delightful surprise for me.

Here’s a quick overview of the box in a video:

In this lovely box with summery colours, I discovered:

🔸 A clear brow gel from the brand Eyeko - Retail Size, usually sold at S$11.45,

🔸 9 anti-blemish patches with salicylic acid from Disciple, retailing at SGD 17.95,

🔸 A travel-sized watermelon body scrub (which smelled absolutely amazing!) from the brand Bubble T, usually priced at S$14.50,

🔸 A lovely eyeshadow from Lottie London in the shade "Golden Hour", priced at S$6.95,

🔸 Micellar water from Nuxe, with a rose scent, in travel size, usually costs about SGD 10.

🔸 A facial exfoliating gel from Gatineau, typically priced at $9.45.

👉 In total, thanks to this box which I paid S$17 for with my six-month subscription, I have saved nearly S$45 and discovered some fantastic products!

Is there a Lookfantastic gift card? 🎁

Unfortunately, Lookfantastic doesn't offer this type of product yet. It's really a pity because a subscription to this box would be a wonderful surprise for your sister, friend, or beauty-loving mum.

However, since there is no personalisation questionnaire, you have the option to sign up someone of your choice by selecting the duration of their subscription and replacing your delivery address with theirs.

👉 In this context, the prepaid subscription is quite convenient. However, I think you should still untick the auto-renewal option in your account settings to prevent it from being automatically renewed.

This calendar contains 25 beauty products, which you will discover day by day. It features content similar to that of the box, including body and face care, makeup, cleansing products, ... everything you need to pamper yourself throughout the winter!

In 2021, the calendar was priced at S$95, which puts it at the higher end of beauty calendars. However, this is understandable given the format of the products: rather than samples, they come in travel-sized or full retail formats. Inside, there were over S$470 worth of products!

And since we don't change a winning recipe, the 2022 calendar is likely to be quite similar. The brand has been sticking to this well-loved classic for several years now.

My Verdict on the Lookfantastic Box

Before trying out the box, the brand Lookfantastic was somewhat unknown to me. In fact, when people mentioned beauty boxes, I would think of MyLittleBox, Blissim, or Glossybox... But I was tempted to give this one a shot because the prices of the products on the site were really attractive. Moreover, there were products that I couldn't find anywhere else.

I subscribed for six months to try out the box. The price is slightly higher than other boxes, but I understood why when I received my packages: in each box, there was at least one full-size product. Moreover, while competitors generally offer 5 to 6 products, Lookfantastic guarantees 6. So it's definitely more worthwhile!

Overall, I was happy with the products received: they are from reputable brands, including some that I use daily (Nuxe, Caudalie), and they are suitable for most skin and hair types, even the more sensitive ones. However, I did wish that we could personalise our profile to receive makeup that matches our skin tone, for example.

I also appreciated the packaging of the gift sets and the reliability of the shipping. I was a bit worried since this company isn't based in Singapore, but the products are really well packaged and they arrived quickly.
