In the past, to send flowers, you had to visit an Interflora florist in person. Nowadays, things have become much more convenient, and you can do everything online!
A few months ago, for Mother’s Day, I wanted to treat my mum to a flower subscription: I turned to Aquarelle for this service. Let me share whether the outcome was up to my expectations.
What is the Aquarelle Flower Subscription?

👍 I loved it
- The beauty of bouquets,
- The attractive pricing,
- The option to order without commitment instead of paying everything upfront,
- Aquarelle's eco-friendly approach (Kraft packaging, flowers from France, ...)
❌ What I Liked Less
- No option to choose the flowers or the colour of the ordered bouquets,
- Cannot add a small gift to your order,
- The bouquets are not made by a local florist and arrive by post.

How Does the Aquarelle Flower Subscription Work?
As most people love receiving flowers, Aquarelle's flower subscription is a fantastic idea to bring a touch of nature and beautiful colours into your home.
With this subscription, the recipient (which could be yourself) will regularly receive a surprise bouquet sent to their chosen address. This could even be to a workplace, to brighten up a reception area or a welcome desk, for instance.
What options are available for bouquets?
Unlike the pre-designed bouquets available on the website, the bouquets for subscriptions are created without a set template and are tailored according to:
- the arrival of French seasonal flowers at the workshop,
- the florist's inspiration and style.
Aquarelle offers you two different sizes of bouquets:
👉 A bouquet measuring 35 cm typically contains around fifteen small to medium-sized roses or seasonal flowers. For a size of 40 centimetres, you can expect about twenty flowers.
Bouquet diameter 35 cm
What is the subscription rate?
Aquarelle offers three delivery options:
- Once a month,
- Twice a month,
- Four times a month.
👉 When you subscribe, you must select the date for your first delivery. The bouquets will arrive between 8am and 2pm, excluding public holidays. If you choose a Saturday, subsequent deliveries will also be made on that same day: you will also have the option to view their schedule from your customer account.
Who Creates the Bouquets?
The bouquets are created by Aquarelle florists, who operate from a workshop located in France, in the Oise region. The delivery of the bouquets is then guaranteed:
- by bicycle if you live in Paris,
- by a traditional courier if you live elsewhere.

What flowers will be included in the Aquarelle bouquets?
In the subscription packages, we're talking about seasonal flowers sourced from France. This means that in winter, you're more likely to receive flowers like tulips, ranunculus, and anemones... and you'll have to wait until May to enjoy a beautiful bouquet of peonies!
While you can't choose the colour of your bouquet, by opting for Aquarelle, you are supporting the French economy and ensuring a fair income for French flower producers. Choosing an Aquarelle subscription is also a responsible choice for the planet, as it helps to avoid flower imports by air and excessive packaging.
Is there a no-obligation offer with Aquarelle?
Absolutely, and this is particularly something that sets the brand apart from some of its competitors. For me, this aspect was crucial. If you choose the "no commitment" option, the cost of the bouquet, which is €39, will be deducted automatically with each delivery.
🤑 Aquarelle rewards your loyalty: every 11 bouquets, you’ll receive a free bouquet!
Who are Aquarelle flower subscriptions for?
The Aquarelle flower box, with its adaptable design, is ideal for giving a gift. The no-obligation offer allows you to send a bouquet at regular intervals while still having the flexibility to pause or stop at any time.
If you're looking to sign up for regular flower deliveries over an extended period, Aquarelle is the way to go because their prices are more competitive in this regard compared to Interflora, for instance.
Ultimately, Aquarelle is a perfect floral subscription for those who care about the environment and wish to make a responsible purchase. Whether it's the packaging or the flowers grown in France, the brand emphasises this aspect and allows you to give flowers or brighten up your home while staying true to your values.
What is the price of the Aquarelle flower subscription?
Aquarelle doesn't list its prices on a grid on their website. To access them, you need to use the subscription tool. To help you navigate and compare the options, I have thus summarised Aquarelle's floral subscription prices in two tables.
👉 All of these prices include delivery charges. They remain the same whether you purchase a gift card for a subscription or the subscription itself directly.
🔸 Watercolour Flower Prices - 35-centimetre Bouquet
1 month (no commitment) | 3 months | 6 months | 1 year
1 bouquet /month | €39 (per month) | €117 | €222.30 | €421.20 |
2 bouquets /month | €78 (per month) | €222.30 | €421.20 | €842.40 |
4 bouquets /month | €156 (per month) | €421.20 | €842.40 | €1684.80 |
🔸 Watercolour Prices - 40 Centimetre Bouquet
1 month (no commitment) | 3 months | 6 months | 1 year
1 bouquet /month | €49 (per month) | €147 | €279.30 | €529.20 |
2 bouquets /month | €98 (per month) | €279.30 | €529.20 | €1,058.40 |
4 bouquets /month | €196 (per month) | €529.20 | €1,058.40 | €2,116.80 |
👉 Even if you're getting 4 bouquets a month for a year, you'll need to pay upfront in one go when you place your order. Here are my two tips for making payments easier:
- Pay with PayPal and take advantage of the four interest-free instalments offered by PayPal,
- Subscribe with no commitment to be charged €39 each time a bouquet is delivered.
What does a Watercolour flower bouquet look like?
For my part, I was pleased with the bouquets I had sent to my mother through Aquarelle. I was able to see some of them in person and received photos of the others. I appreciated the diversity of flower varieties they included and the harmony of colours crafted by the florist.
Compared to what you might find at a florist for the same price, I think that the volume of the watercolour bouquets is quite impressive. The bouquets are well packaged and have always arrived in excellent condition.
On the other hand, I was able to include a little note with my first order, which was attached to the bouquet as a card. It’s a lovely touch!
Discover the Aquarelle gift card for sending flower bouquets
Instead of taking out a subscription on behalf of someone else, Aquarelle allows you to give an e-gift card, which lets the bouquet recipient set up their own subscription directly on the Aquarelle website.
Who should you give Aquarelle flower bouquets to?
Flowers bring joy to most people! Whether it's to say thank you, to congratulate someone, or to celebrate a wonderful moment in life (like a birth, wedding, birthday, graduation...), a flower subscription can be a fantastic surprise that will delight the recipient and provide them with enjoyment over time.
How to Give an Aquarelle Gift Card?
Simply go to the "subscription" section of the website and select "e-gift card". Then, choose the duration and frequency of the subscription, enter your message, and proceed to payment. Once the payment is complete, Aquarelle will send you a code via email that you can give to the person receiving the gift.
What are the benefits of this system? 💚
- The gift can be presented immediately and remains a surprise,
- The recipient can choose their own date for the first delivery,
- You don’t need to know the recipient’s details to give your gift.
What is the main drawback of this gift card? ❌
This type of subscription does not provide access to the no-commitment offer, which allows you to pay for bouquets as they are sent and to stop whenever you wish. The minimum order is therefore one bouquet per month for three months.
👉 This is the main reason why I chose to sign up directly rather than going through the gift card.

My Verdict on Interflora's Flower Subscription
After three months of my Aquarelle subscription, I’m now in a position to share my initial thoughts.
🔹 As for the registration on the site, it was very easy, and I was able to find what I was looking for without any hassle. I didn't use the gift card system, as I wanted to take out a subscription without commitment to send bouquets to my mum for a few months.
🔹 Regarding the bouquets, the result was lovely and met my expectations. My mum was delighted with the surprise and appreciated the little note that came with it. I would have liked to add a small gift to my order, like chocolates or a candle, as I noticed that Aquarelle has its own collection of candles. It's a pity that this isn't possible...
🔹 Of course, I would have preferred to use a florist near my mother, but I really wanted bouquets made with flowers from France, and that just wasn't feasible. So, Aquarelle was the best compromise to meet that request while ensuring that the bouquet was created by "real" florists.
🔹 Before choosing Aquarelle, I took a look at what other options were available. Compared to the competition, Aquarelle Flowers becomes really attractive when you order or have bouquets delivered regularly or over a long period. The no-strings-attached offer isn’t available with Interflora, which is quite handy, and I’m delighted that there’s a free bouquet for every 11 ordered.
✅ My experience with the floral subscription from Aquarelle was excellent, both for me and for the recipient of the bouquets! There were no delays, and the arrangements were lovely, although I would have perhaps liked more options for personalisation.

What flowers to give for a birthday?
For a woman's birthday, you could give her a lovely bouquet of seasonal flowers or roses. Red roses are quite romantic, while flowers in pastel shades are more suited for expressing affection.
For a man's birthday, I recommend choosing a potted plant or flowering plant. It's a classic choice that appeals to many!
