My Thoughts on GAMBETTES BOX: Are We Finally Getting Quality Tights?

Like me, are you looking forward to autumn to wear your lovely skirts and dresses with tights? If so, you'll know the challenge of finding tights that are both stylish, comfortable, and durable for the winter season.

Just over a year ago, after having worn hundreds of pairs of tights in my life, I discovered the Gambettes box. This unique and super convenient subscription allows you to receive two new pairs of tights each month delivered to your door. I, of course, tested out this box, and I’ll share my thoughts with you!

Gambettes Box is a French subscription service that delivers two pairs of tights or beachwear (from June to August) right to your doorstep every month. It's a no-commitment subscription, so you can cancel at any time. Delivery is free.

Are they quality tights?

Having received numerous boxes, I've noticed that most of the tights were of far better quality than those you can buy in the supermarket, for instance.

The tights from Gambettes box are designed in Paris and made in Italy, ensuring that customers receive a high-quality and long-lasting product. The aim is to avoid throwing away dozens of pairs of tights each year.

What sizes does Gambettes Box offer?

Stockings are available in sizes S to XL. Specifically, this corresponds to:

• A weight of between 40 and 100 kg,
• A height of between 1.5 m and 1.85 m.

How often will I receive my Gambette Box?

This is a monthly box. If you are a subscriber, the date you receive your box will depend on the delivery method:

• By Colissimo: the box will be dispatched between the 27th of the previous month and the 2nd of the current month,
• By Asendia: you will receive your tights in the first or second week of the current month.

And in summer, will I also receive tights? 🌞

The production of tights is not the most environmentally friendly. Often delicate and quickly discarded, traditional tights have a high carbon footprint due to the numerous chemicals involved in their production.

But that's no reason to stop wearing skirts or dresses, as Gambettes Box offers you an alternative. The brand provides tights made from leftover yarns, thereby reducing waste. These are less polluting materials:

🔸 In summer, sustainable and eco-friendly beachwear

The summer clothing on offer is also designed to have a minimal carbon footprint and to prioritise your health.

♻️ Cotton is 100% biodegradable and produced through organic farming. Its cultivation uses ten times less water than conventional cotton.

🚿 The viscose used for the rest of the clothing consumes 50% less water compared to traditional viscose. It is also recyclable and biodegradable. The forests used to produce it are sustainably managed, and the producers are fairly compensated.

🚢 These materials arrive by ship rather than by plane, so their environmental impact is much lower.

🔸 Eco-friendly Packaging

After conducting surveys, the brand found that a significant amount of what it sent to its subscribers was quickly discarded (the cardboard, the accompanying leaflet, etc.). As a result, they have taken steps to reduce the pollution caused by their packaging.

🔸 The Fight Against Street Harassment

At last, with the "Free your legs" programme, Gambettes Box is taking a stand against street harassment, which affects nearly 80% of women. Their initiative is clever: in partnership with the organisation "Stop Street Harassment", the brand has installed leg-height mirrors in Paris, Amsterdam, and Hamburg to encourage women to take photos and feel proud of showcasing their legs.

For every photo shared with the #freeyourlegs hashtag on social media, Gambettes box has committed to donating €3 to the organisation Stop Harcèlement de rue.

My verdict on the Gambettes box ⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a true fan of dresses and skirts, I didn't think twice about trying out the concept offered by Gambettes Box when I first heard about it. Every winter, I tend to buy a lot of tights, whether it's in supermarkets or clothing stores. And I end up wearing them quite a bit!

I found the subscription process very straightforward. I appreciated that there was only one price and no commitment: this makes the subscription very simple and convenient.

My first Gambettes box - September 2021

When it comes to quality, I’m really happy with most of the tights I’ve received. Some of the finer styles (20 denier weave) can sometimes snag a bit quickly, but that’s normal with this type of very delicate tights.

Ultimately, for €16.50, I often get two pairs of tights that last me several months and are really unique. The brand's commitments to eco-friendliness also persuaded me, and I'm quite pleased to be doing my bit for the planet by ordering fewer tights!

Gambettes Box - January 2022

The only thing I'm less satisfied with is the summer box offering, which includes beachwear. As I wear a size 18, the clothes that are sent are not suitable for my size. In fact, the maximum size is a 14 (or a small 16)!

I tried to contact Gambettes box to see if it was possible to get a larger size. It took me quite a while (more than a week) to receive a friendly yet negative response. Such a pity! As a result, I have to put my box on hold for the summer... Thankfully, this option is available!

As for the summer beachwear range, it looks great, but unfortunately, it's only available up to size 42-44, which is a real pity.
