My Thoughts on AQUARELLE, the Custom Flower Subscription Box

To send flowers, it used to be necessary to visit an Interflora florist in person. Since then, things have become much more convenient, and you can now do everything online!

A few months ago, for Mother's Day, I wanted to treat my mum to a floral subscription: I reached out to Aquarelle for this service. I'll let you discover in detail if the outcome was up to my expectations.

How does the Aquarelle flower subscription work?

Because most people love receiving flowers, Aquarelle's floral subscription is a fantastic way to bring a touch of nature and beautiful colours into your home.

With this subscription, the recipient (it could be yourself) regularly receives a surprise bouquet delivered to their chosen address. This could even be at a workplace, to decorate a reception area or a reception desk, for example.

What are the possible options for bouquets?

Unlike the bouquets with set designs available on the site, the subscription bouquets are created without a preset model, based on:

• the arrival of French seasonal flowers at the workshop,
• the florist's inspiration and style.

Aquarelle offers you two different sizes of bouquets:

👉 A bouquet of 35 cm typically includes around fifteen small to medium roses or seasonal flowers. For the 40 cm size, it contains about twenty flowers.

What is the subscription frequency?

Aquarelle offers three delivery options:

• Once a month,
• Twice a month,
• Four times a month.

👉 When you sign up, you need to select the date for your first delivery. The bouquets are delivered between 8am and 2pm, excluding public holidays. If you choose a Saturday, subsequent deliveries will also occur on that same day: you will also have the option to view their schedule from your customer account.

Who creates the bouquets?

The bouquets are crafted by Aquarelle florists, who operate from a workshop located in France, in the Oise region. The delivery of the bouquets is then taken care of:

• by bicycle if you live in Paris,
• through a traditional courier if you live elsewhere.

What flowers will be included in the Aquarelle bouquets?

In the subscription plans, we offer seasonal flowers sourced from France. This means that in winter, you're more likely to receive flowers like tulips, ranunculus, and anemones... and you'll have to wait until May to see a beautiful bouquet of peonies arrive!

While you can't choose the colour of your bouquet, by choosing Aquarelle, you are supporting the French economy and ensuring the fair compensation of French flower producers. Opting for an Aquarelle subscription is also a commitment to the planet, as it helps avoid air freight imports of flowers and unnecessary packaging.

Is there a no-obligation offer with Aquarelle?

Absolutely, and this is particularly something that sets the brand apart from some of its competitors. For me, this aspect was crucial. If you choose the "no commitment" option, the price of the bouquet, which is R39, will be automatically charged with each delivery.

What is the price of the Aquarelle flower subscription?

What Does a Watercolour Flower Bouquet Look Like?

For my part, I was very happy with the bouquets I had sent to my mother through Aquarelle. I managed to see some of them in person and received photos of the others. I appreciated the variety of flower species that made up the arrangements and the beautiful colour harmony created by the florist.

In comparison to what you would typically find at a florist for the same price, I find that the size of the watercolour bouquets is quite satisfactory. The bouquets are nicely wrapped and have always arrived in good condition.

On the other hand, I was able to include a little note with my first order, which was attached to the bouquet as a card. It's really lovely!

What is the main disadvantage of this gift card? ❌

This type of subscription does not provide access to the no-strings-attached offer, which allows you to pay for the bouquets as they are sent and to cancel whenever you like. The minimum order is therefore one bouquet per month for three months.

👉 This is the main reason why I chose to sign up directly and not go through the gift card.

Aquarelle offers a unique innovation in the field of online flower delivery: you can now create your custom bouquet, by directly selecting from the flowers available in the Workshop.

To do this, simply visit the website, in the "Create My Bouquet" section. You can then choose your flowers, just as you would at a traditional florist:

After three months of my Aquarelle subscription, I'm ready to share my initial thoughts.

🔹 When it comes to registering on the site, it was very simple and I was able to easily find what I was looking for. I didn't use the gift card system, as I wanted to take out a no-strings-attached subscription to send bouquets to my mum for a few months.

🔹 Regarding the bouquets, the result was really lovely and met all my expectations. My mum was thrilled with the surprise and appreciated the little note that came with it. I would have liked to add a small gift to my order, like chocolates or a candle, as I noticed that Aquarelle has its own collection of candles. It’s a pity that this isn’t possible...

🔹 Of course, I would have preferred to use a florist near my mother, but I really wanted bouquets made with flowers from France, and that wasn’t possible. Aquarelle was therefore the best compromise to meet this request, while ensuring that the bouquet was made by "real" florists.
