My Thoughts on PRESCRIPTION LAB: The Beauty Box to Try in 2024?

Taking care of yourself on a daily basis is great for your health and your wellbeing! For this, beauty boxes are an ideal option: they combine surprise and self-care to provide you with true moments of relaxation.

Recently, I subscribed to the Prescription Lab box for a period of 3 months. I wanted to try out this box as it seemed more curated and refined than the others. In this blog post, I’ll share my thoughts on it!

In each box, you will find:

• A product from the P.Lab Beauty brand, developed by Prescription Lab. All P.Lab Beauty items are made with natural ingredients and come in large sizes within the boxes.
• 1 product from a prestigious partner brand in large size,
• 2 products from partner brands in travel size, convenient for trying out and taking with you everywhere,
• The monthly issue of "Le prescripteur" magazine, a genuine lifestyle and beauty publication with over 50 pages.

What types of products can you find in a Prescription Lab box?

👉 Prescription Lab is quite a generalist box. Among the selected products, you will find:

• Some cleansing products: shampoo, dry shampoo, mask, shower gel, conditioner...
• Products dedicated to well-being: pillow mist, spray to aid sleep, massage oils,
• Beauty treatments: day cream, concealer, moisturising face treatment, serum,
• Make-up (less frequent): mascara, eyeshadow, etc...

🤑 The total value of all these products is at least R1,200 per box (and often much more), making the Prescription Lab box very appealing.

Prescription Lab gives you the chance to complete a profile questionnaire to provide you with tailored products. While it isn’t strictly necessary, as it mainly focuses on daily skincare and wellness products rather than makeup, it can be beneficial.

🍂 The products sent are suited to the current season. In summer, you'll receive UV protective products, while in winter, the brand focuses on moisturising products to protect skin that has been affected by the cold.

👉 One of the things I loved about subscribing to Prescription Lab is receiving products that I can actually use. Having subscribed to other beauty boxes in the past, I was often disappointed with unsuitable makeup products: foundation, eyeshadow, or lipstick in colours that didn't suit me at all... Fortunately, I have not been disappointed at all with Prescription Lab in this regard.

While I loved the double box from this summer, I prefer to highlight a more classic box, specifically the one from June 2022, so you can get a good idea of what a Prescription Lab box can offer.

In this box, we found, among other things:

• A retail-sized product: the moisturising cream gel from the brand Respire,
• A conditioner from Les secrets de Loly, themed "Pink Paradise" (it smells amazing!), full-size,
• Some micellar water from Payot, in a miniature size, which I absolutely loved during all my travels this summer,
• A shampoo from the brand Prescription Lab Beauty, which helped my hair withstand the sun and chlorine this summer!

📖 The box also came with the monthly magazine "The Prescriber", which I really enjoyed reading on the beach this summer. My friend who was with me even borrowed it!

What is the price of the Prescription Lab box?

Prescription Lab is slightly more expensive than the budget boxes on the market (Blissim, Glowria, My Little Box...), but by less than five euros. This is justified as it is positioned in the premium segment. The box offers prestigious products as well as a genuine magazine.

When you sign up, you have three options to choose from:

⭐ The preferred option for subscribers is a monthly payment of R420.00 via a direct debit, which you can cancel with just one click. It's convenient and allows you to receive your box without needing to place an order regularly.

You can also choose a 3-month or 1-year subscription. Both work like the monthly payment, except that they are charged at the end of the term. Please note, if you do not cancel by the end of the specified period, the subscription will automatically renew.

These two options reward your loyalty with gifts:

• A free product with a three-month subscription,
• A free box with a twelve-month subscription.

👉 Personally, I chose the three-month subscription, which I eventually converted to a monthly subscription at the end of this first term. It's very convenient as it allows me to pause my subscription if I no longer want to receive the box.

What are the different payment methods accepted?

Prescription Lab accepts credit cards as well as Mastercard, Visa, and Visa Electron debit cards. Payment by cheque, direct debit, bank transfer, or PayPal is not possible.

Is the delivery of the Prescription Lab box charged?

No, everything is included in the stated price. However, if you prefer to receive your box sooner, you can choose tracked delivery, which adds R55 to the monthly price of your order.

Is there a Prescription Lab gift card? 🎁

👉 If you want to introduce the box to someone, I recommend opting for the two or three-month offer. For a subscription renewal or a great gift, you could consider giving a year's subscription!

What will it look like?

To do this, simply visit the website and navigate to the GIFT section in the displayed menu. Next, you can select the subscription duration and then choose the delivery method. You also have the option to add a small gift (such as a toiletry bag, piece of jewellery, etc.): you can choose to do this or not, depending on your preference and budget.

My verdict on the Prescription Lab box ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Before trying Prescription Lab, I had previously subscribed to other beauty boxes like My Little Box and Blissim. What drew me to this one was its slightly more premium and less childish vibe compared to the others.

The order was incredibly easy to place: I simply went to the website, selected my subscription, and proceeded to payment. Since I did this at the beginning of the month, I received this month's box.

I kind of regretted that it wasn't possible to pay via PayPal because I don't really like sharing my credit card number for online payments, but it was a secure payment, so I didn’t have any issues.

I first received the June box, which I really liked, both for the products and its overall presentation. I appreciated that there were two "full-size items" which I could use every day, as well as travel-size products, including a micellar water that I was able to take with me on holiday.

Next, I received the July-August double box, which I absolutely loved, particularly for the quality of the products included. What I appreciate about Prescription Lab is that I was really able to use and test all the products, as they were all suitable for me.
