My Thoughts on LITTLE CIGOGNE, the Kids' Clothing Box

As a parent, choosing clothes for your kids can sometimes be quite a challenge, and I know this all too well with my 7-year-old son, Lucien. Spending hours on Vinted trying to find second-hand clothes and dealing with tricky fitting sessions in stores really takes away from the time we could be having fun and enjoying quality moments as a family.

A few months ago, while I was talking about these challenges, I was offered the chance to try out Little Cigogne, a personal shopping service (similar to Lookiero, La malle française or Clic and Fit), but for kids! Let me share my thoughts on this box and whether I recommend it to you!

💖 I Loved It

  • Complete personalisation to suit your needs and your child's tastes,
  • Some really nice and good quality clothing received,
  • No extra charge for the personal shopping service,
  • Receive complete outfits: super convenient for getting dressed in the morning,
  • The fact that the box is aimed at your child: a fantastic surprise for them!
  • The time-saving benefits of this box,
  • The contact with the personal shopper, Aurélie.

I didn't like it as much

  • Some clothing items that aren’t in my son’s favourite colours,
  • The price is a bit steep,
  • No option to specify a budget when placing an order.

How does Little Cigogne work?

Little Cigogne offers a Personal Shopper service for children aged 6 months to 14 years. This means you will receive a selection of clothes curated by a stylist for your child, delivered straight to your home at your preferred frequency.

In each box, you'll find a total of three complete outfits (top, jacket, and bottom). You can calmly let your child try on these clothes at home, and then just return, at no cost, what doesn’t fit or isn’t suitable. You only pay for what you decide to keep!

How does a personal shopper know which clothes to choose?

When you sign up for Little Cigogne, you will fill out a very detailed questionnaire that will help the stylist understand your needs better. For example, for my son, I was able to specify:

  • From examples that matched his style,
  • Which colours he liked and which ones he didn’t,
  • Which brands I usually dressed him in,
  • The patterns he loves (animals, characters...) and those he likes less (checks, polka dots...),
  • Some items he doesn’t like to wear (turtlenecks, hoods...),
  • The fits that suit him best (loose, straight, fitted...),
  • His sizes for tops, trousers, and shoes,
  • My specific needs for this order (e.g., lightweight and durable clothing for summer).

📷 I was also able to send a photograph of my son so that the stylist could see the colour of his hair and eyes, in order to choose clothes that would accentuate his features. He has particularly beautiful blue eyes, and wearing this colour really enhances them!

How often do I receive my Little Cigogne box?

Once I completed my questionnaire, Little Cigogne offered me several options for how often I would like to receive my box:

  • A single box with no commitment to give it a try! (with delivery costs of R120 to consider),
  • A box every two months or every three months (with free delivery).

👉 Once you've received the box, you can open it with your child and let them try on the clothes. You can choose which ones to keep and return the rest. The returns are free and can be done using a prepaid envelope that will be provided with the package, within 7 days. You will only be charged for the clothes you decide to keep!

❌ Not happy with anything? You can return everything for free!

Who is the Little Cigogne box for?

Little Cigogne is a subscription box designed to relieve parents! By delivering a curated selection directly to their homes, it enables them to:

🔸 Get free advice from a professional stylist,

🔸 Easily find everyday essentials for their child,

🔸 Refreshing their son's or daughter's wardrobe,

🔸 Save a ton of time by spending less time in stores!

Little Cigogne is a perfect solution for parents of children aged 6 months to 14 years who want to avoid the hassle of shopping, while also sharing the joy of dressing up with their child. The arrival of each box is a delightful surprise eagerly anticipated by the whole family!

How much does a Little Cigogne trunk cost?

Unlike other personal shopping services (for adults) that I've tried, Little Cigogne does not charge stylist consultation fees. This means that if you return all the clothing for free, you won't have to pay anything.

If you choose to try out a unique box, with no commitment, you'll pay R120 for delivery fees. Otherwise, delivery is free for subscribers!

The clothing that Little Cigogne sends in its boxes costs between R200 and R600 and each box contains 3 outfits. This brings the total cost of the box to between R1000 and R1500.

🤑 If you keep all the clothes offered, you receive a 30% discount on the total, which is a fantastic deal. That's nearly a full outfit for free!

Can I gift a Little Cigogne subscription? 🎁

Little Cigogne does not yet offer a gift card for a subscription, but the site has an alternative: a gift trunk of your choice for a child. The site provides three options, which can be tailored depending on whether the child is a girl or a boy:

🌃 A gift box with 2 pyjamas for R39.99,

🤱 A baby box for the first few days at R49.99 (3 items),

👶 A "My First Outfit" box for R79.99 (5 pieces).

👉 There is also a referral offer that allows you and your referee to receive a R10 discount. To take advantage of this offer, you need to log into your account, then go to the "My Info" section, followed by "Referrals", to access a form that enables you to send invitations to your potential referees via email or social media. The R10 discount is applied as soon as your referee makes their first order.

What does a Little Cigogne parcel look like?

Are you unsure about ordering from Little Cigogne and would like to get a glimpse of a trunk? Check out what it looks like in this video:

This unboxing allows you to see:

  • 📦 What does a parcel look like and how are the clothes sent,

  • 💲 What does the document giving the prices of the clothing look like,

  • 👕 What "3 outfits" really means,

  • 👖 What to expect when ordering a Little Cigogne trunk...

For my part, I was pleased with the quality of the product packaging as well as the selection of clothing I received. I appreciated that the prices of the clothing were available immediately upon opening the parcel, without having to search for them. This allows you to quickly set aside items that are too expensive or that you don’t like enough for the price.

Get Ready for School with the "Back to School" Capsule Collection!

For the 2022 school year, Little Cigogne has partnered with the Fresk brand to offer trendy and durable backpacks for school. The outcome is impressive, with colourful designs that are sure to delight children.

This collaboration also offers must-haves for school kids: water bottles, insulated lunch boxes, waterproofs, and rubber boots. Personally, I'm seriously considering ordering a raincoat and matching boots: the outcome is simply adorable!

Giving away your old clothes

To do this, simply head over to this platform and request a free shipping label. Then, you can pack up the clothing, regardless of its condition, into a parcel and send it off. My verdict on the Little Cigogne box

💙 Since subscribing to Little Cigogne, I've received 3 boxes for my son, one every two months. This frequency, which was quite good to start with, is a bit too much for my liking, so I’m considering switching to 4 times a year, meaning once every three months.

🧡 Generally speaking, I'm happy with the clothes I receive. They suit both my son's tastes and my own. The questionnaire when you subscribe is very thorough, and it’s easy to provide feedback to your personal shopper through the website, letting them know why you didn't like certain items.

💛 I also love the practicality of the site and how easy it is to use. Information is easily accessible, which saves valuable time. The concept of the box itself also contributes to this time-saving aspect. We go shopping less often, and most importantly, it’s a lot more relaxed! My 7-year-old son isn’t a fan of fitting rooms, so it’s much nicer for him to try on clothes calmly at home, especially since the box is tailored specifically for him.

💜 The only thing I regret a bit is the price : for each box, I typically keep only one or two outfits, as it quickly becomes expensive for my budget. I wish I could specify on the site that I don't want any clothing over 20 euros, unless it’s a coat, for instance.

For me, Little Cigogne is an incredibly convenient solution for easily finding new outfits for my son! I only wish the clothes offered were a bit less expensive so that I could keep more or order more often! However, I am thrilled that the service is completely free if you decide not to keep any of the clothing.
