In recent years, there has been a great variety of beauty and makeup subscription boxes available. You may have heard of the one I’m introducing today, the Glossybox? With this flexible subscription, you can receive a range of cosmetic products delivered directly to your home. I’ve had the chance to try out this box and I’ll share what I thought about it.

To give you an idea of what to expect when you receive your box, let me share the contents of the Glossybox for May 2022, themed "Perfectly Imperfect".

Upon receiving this box with its vibrant and warm colors, I discovered:

🔸 A firming serum called My Mira Skin Tonic,

🎁 A silicone exfoliating sponge from Daily Concepts.

I really liked the exfoliating sponge, which is super handy for washing my body and relaxing. I especially got to try it with the cleansing oil included in the set, and together they make a great duo.

The highlighter is a quality product that suited my skin tone perfectly. I'll definitely be using it this summer! The firming serum is also a lovely find, thanks to its non-sticky texture and pleasant orange scent. It's best to use it in the evening, as it takes a bit of time to absorb into the skin.

Lastly, Glossybox included in this box a high-quality Banana Beauty lip pencil! The colour doesn’t quite suit me, but my little sister loved it when I gave it to her! 😉

Can we trust the Glossybox brand, or is it a scam?

Glossybox is the trade name of the company THG Beauty Limited, which is based in the UK. It is part of "The Hut Group", hence the initials THG, which has been around since 2004 and owns over 300 websites, specialising in cosmetics, beauty, and nutrition.

So it is a reliable company run by a well-known large group. However, since it is based in the UK, you won’t be able to contact them via phone. For returns, Glossybox has warehouses in Europe, which helps avoid any customs issues related to Brexit. The brand has also communicated to reassure its customers about this.

On review sites like Trustpilot, the brand takes the time to respond to its customers, but they always use the same generic template message. So, I recommend that you contact them directly using the form available on your "My Account" page on the Glossybox website. The brand usually replies within 24 hours on weekdays.

✅In summary, Glossybox is a brand with a strong financial standing and belongs to a well-known international group. Given this, we would have appreciated having a phone customer service option, even though the brand does offer contact through online messaging.

My verdict on Glossybox

🧡 Glossybox is a beauty box that may not be groundbreaking, but it certainly has one undeniable advantage: its affordable price! Compared to competitors like MyLittleBox or Biotyfull Box, which offer more expensive options, the price of SGD 20.50 for receiving a beauty box every month for a year is very appealing!

💛 I also appreciated the quality of the products and the various themes of the boxes. The website is very clear and well-explained: it makes you want to place an order, and you don’t feel like you’re being scammed.

💜 I also loved the limited edition concept, which makes it easy to find beautiful gifts for our loved ones. Next year, I already know what I’ll be getting for my mum for Mother's Day!

How to unsubscribe from Glossybox?

If you have signed up for a multi-month subscription, you will need to wait until the end of your commitment period before you can unsubscribe. Additionally, Glossybox automatically renews multi-month subscriptions at the end of the term: you will need to send a message to customer service before the 14th of the month if you do not wish for it to be renewed.

If you're not getting a response from customer service, you can send a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt directly to the address provided above. This will compel Glossybox to respond to you.

👉 When making a purchase online, be aware that you have a legal right to a 14-day cooling-off period to request the cancellation of your subscription free of charge, according to Article L221-18 of the Consumer Code. Don’t hesitate to exercise your rights if you wish to cancel your subscription at the beginning of the term.

Glossybox will start sending out the boxes from the 5th of the month. It might take about a week for you to receive your shipping email, and the box will arrive afterwards. The brand advises you to contact them directly if you haven't received a shipping email by the 12th of the month.

Yes, every year, Glossybox offers an Advent calendar, featuring 24 products from well-known brands like Ciaté London, Benefit, and Polaar. The calendar includes many full-sized products. In 2021, it was priced at S$85 (for over S$525 worth of products!) and was available for pre-order from the end of September.

Is Glossybox doing a Black Friday beauty box?

Yes, and the offer is very, very attractive! 🤑 In 2021, the limited edition Black Friday package featured no less than 10 products (worth a total of SGD 154) for just SGD 20. It included cosmetic products, hair care treatments, moisturising creams, makeup... perfect for pampering ourselves during the winter! I'm excited to see what the brand has in store for us in 2022. 😊
