My Thoughts on PRESCRIPTION LAB: The Beauty Box to Try in 2024?

Taking care of yourself every day is great for both your health and your well-being! Beauty boxes are a fantastic option for this purpose: they combine surprise and self-care to provide you with genuine moments of relaxation.

Recently, I subscribed to the Prescription Lab box for a duration of 3 months. I wanted to test this kit as it seemed more sophisticated and refined than the other boxes. I’ll share my thoughts on it in this testimonial article!

• A product from the P.Lab Beauty brand, developed by Prescription Lab. All P.Lab Beauty products are made with natural ingredients and are provided in large sizes in the boxes.
• 1 product from a prestigious partner brand in full size.
• 2 products from partner brands in travel size, perfect for trying out and easy to take with you everywhere.
• The monthly issue of the magazine "Le prescripteur", a genuine lifestyle and beauty magazine with over 50 pages.

What types of products can you find in a Prescription Lab box?

👉 Prescription Lab is quite a general subscription box. Among the selected products, you'll find:

• Some cleansing products: shampoo, dry shampoo, face masks, shower gel, conditioner...
• Products dedicated to well-being: pillow mist, sleep aid spray, massage oils,
• Beauty treatments: day cream, concealer, hydrating face cream, serum,
• Some makeup (less common): mascara, eyeshadow, etc...

🤑 The total value of all these products is at least $60 NZD per box (and often much more), making the Prescription Lab box very appealing.

Is the box customised to fit your profile?

Prescription Lab offers you the chance to complete a profile questionnaire to provide you with tailored products. It's not strictly necessary since it’s mainly about everyday skincare and wellness products rather than makeup.

🍂 The products sent are suited to the current season. In summer, you'll receive sun protection products, while in winter, the brand focuses on moisturising products to protect skin from the harsh cold.

👉 One of the things I loved about subscribing to Prescription Lab is receiving products that I can actually use. Having subscribed to other beauty boxes in the past, I was often disappointed to receive makeup products that were unsuitable for me, like foundation, eyeshadows, or lipsticks in colours that just didn't suit me at all. Thankfully, I haven't been disappointed at all with Prescription Lab in this regard.

Unlike other beauty boxes that just include a simple booklet, each month you receive a genuine women’s magazine, packed with interesting articles, cultural news, lifestyle tips... Even though I loved the double box from this summer, I prefer to take a more classic example, specifically the box from June 2022, so you can get a good idea of what a Prescription Lab box can be like.

In this box, we found, among other things:

• A retail size product: the moisturising cream gel from the Respire brand,
• A conditioner from Les secrets de Loly, in the "Pink Paradise" theme (it smells amazing!), in full-size,
• Some micellar water from Payot, in a mini size, which I absolutely loved during all my travels this summer,
• A shampoo from Prescription Lab Beauty, which helped my hair withstand the sun and chlorine this summer!

📖 The box also came with the monthly magazine "Le Prescripteur," which I enjoyed reading on the beach this summer. My friend who was with me even borrowed it!

What is the price of the Prescription Lab box?

Prescription Lab is slightly more expensive than the budget boxes on the market (Blissim, Glowria, My Little Box...), but by less than five dollars, and this is understandable as it is positioned as a premium brand. The box offers prestigious products as well as a genuine magazine.

When signing up, you have three options available to you:

⭐ Our subscribers' favourite option is a monthly payment of NZD 20.60 via direct debit, which you can cancel with just one click. It's convenient and means you receive your box without having to place an order regularly.

You can also choose a three-month or one-year subscription. Both options operate like a monthly plan, except that payment occurs at the end of the term. Please note that if you don't cancel it at the end of the specified period, the subscription will renew automatically.

Both of these options reward your loyalty with gifts:

• A complimentary product for the three-month subscription,

👉 I chose the three-month subscription, which I later switched to a monthly plan at the end of the first quarter. It's really convenient as it allows me to pause my subscription if I no longer want to receive the box.

What are the different payment methods accepted?

Prescription Lab accepts credit cards as well as Mastercard, Visa, and Visa Electron debit cards. Unfortunately, payment by cheque, direct debit, bank transfer, or PayPal is not available.

Is the delivery of the Prescription Lab box free?

No, everything is included in the price shown. However, if you prefer to receive your box sooner, you can choose a tracked delivery, which will add $2.90 to your monthly order cost.

• 6 months for $111.46 NZD, saving you 10%,
• 1 year for $227 NZD, and you’ll receive a free box!

👉 If you want to introduce the box to someone, I recommend the two or three-month offer. For a subscription renewal or a lovely gift, you could give them a year's subscription!

What Will It Look Like?

Prescription Lab offers you three delivery options so you can gift your present in a way that suits you best:

👉 The first option lets you make a statement by including the gift card in an initial box. This is perfect if you want to present the gift in a tangible way rather than just handing over a card. You can receive it yourself and give it as a gift, or you can send it directly to the recipient.

To do this, simply go to the website and navigate to the GIFT section in the menu that appears. Next, select the subscription duration, then choose the delivery method. You also have the option to add a small gift (like a toiletry bag or a piece of jewellery): you can choose to include it or not, depending on your preference and budget.

My Verdict on the Prescription Lab Box ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Before discovering Prescription Lab, I had subscribed to other beauty boxes like My Little Box and Blissim. What drew me to try this one was its somewhat more premium and less childish vibe compared to the others.

The order was incredibly easy to place: I just had to go to the website, select my subscription, and proceed with the payment. Since I did this at the beginning of the month, I received the box for the current month.

I did have a bit of a regret that it wasn't possible to pay via PayPal, as I’m not too keen on providing my credit card number for online payments. However, it was a secure payment, so I didn’t encounter any issues.

First up, I received the June box, which I really enjoyed, both for the products and the overall presentation. I appreciated that there were two "full-size items" that I could use every day, as well as some travel-sized products, including a micellar water that I could take with me on holiday.

I then received the double box for July and August, which I really enjoyed, especially due to the quality of the products included. What I appreciate about Prescription Lab is that I was actually able to use and test all the products, as they were all suited to my needs.
